Our Doctors
Dr. Michael A. Norman, DMD
Dr. Norman is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Norman obtained his General Practice Residency certificate from the Philadelphia Veterans Memorial Hospital. He earned an undergraduate degree in Biology from Johns Hopkins University. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentists, the Connecticut State Dental Association and the New Haven Dental Association.
Dr. Norman started practicing in West Haven Connecticut in December of 2002. He finds satisfaction in creating positive long-term relationships with his patients and helping them achieve ideal oral health. Dr. Norman's patience and gentle nature make him the perfect choice for the "anxious" patient.
Dr. Norman resides in Middletown, CT, with his wife Jennifer and their four children Sydney, Michael, Matthew and James. When he is not working (which is rare given his workaholic tendency) he enjoys kayaking, exercising, Tae-kwan-do and spending quality time with his wife and children.
Dr. Darnell M. Young
Dr. Young is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. While attending the University of Connecticut he earned a community service award as well as a research recognition reward and participated in a published research study "Dentin bonding agents:A two year study". Dr Young attended Syracuse University for his undergraduate education where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned Syracuse University's Academic Excellence in Biology award and Bachelor of Science degree.
Dr. Young recieved his specialist training in Pediatric Dentistry at Temple University Hospital earning a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. He also received Morris Kelner Conference on Progress in Pediatric Dentistry Research Certificate.
Dr. Young is trained in caring for children with special needs and has also been formally trained in Oral Conscious Sedation as well as Hospital Dentistry.
Dr. Young is very active in the local community volunteering his time and providing oral hygiene instruction and denal screenings at the New Haven boys and girls club, Tutor Time, and the Colgate Bright Smiles & Bright Future Program. He also participates in the Department of Public Health's dental home by one program.
Dr. Young is an active member of the ADA, AAPD, ABPD, CSPD and CSDA.
Our Dental Hygienists
Geraldine McGroary,RDH.
Geraldine is a Registered Dental Hygienist practicing for 22 years. She is a graduate of Forsyth School for Dental Hygiene where she earned her associates degree in Dental Hygiene. She is also a graduate of Northeastern University where she earned an associates degree in Science.
Upon graduation Geraldine stayed in Boston, MA, and practiced in a dental office in the heart of Red Sox Nation!!! During a weekend home in Connecticut she met the love of her life Dave. Geraldine remained in Boston for a year before returning to Connecticut to marry Dave. They are still happily married after 17 years and have two beautiful young sons David and Kevin.
When Geraldine is not practicing Dental Hygiene she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and truly enjoys running from one ball game, soccer game, swimming lesson to another. Her boys keep her very busy and she would have it no other way!!!
Barbara Kopjanski, RDH.
Barbara is a Registered Dental Hygienist practicing for over 5 years. She is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport Fones school of Dental Hygiene where she received her associates degree in Science and graduated as the Valedictorian of her hygiene class.
Barbara moved to the United States from Poland in 1988. She graduated from Derby high school in 1991 and from the Eli Whitney school for Dental Assisting in 1993. While Barbara enjoyed assisting the Dentist she found her true calling to be a Dental Hygienist. She throughly enjoys practicing dental hygiene and performing Zoom teeth whitening to help her patients achieve their best smile!!
Barbara's joy and pride in life come from her two wonderful sons Christopher and Michael.
When Barbara is not working she enjoys spending time with her Polish family, reading, dancing and outdoor sports.
Nancy Gioia, RDH
Nancy is a Registered Dental Hygienist practicing for over four years. She recieved her Associates degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of New Haven.
Nancy is a native of East Haven and graduated from East Haven High School. After high school Nancy went to work for SNET/AT&T. Over the next few years Nancy expanded her family and gave birth to her four wonderful boys Joshua, Jordan, Joseph and Jonathan. Everytime she had to bring her children to the dentist she would struggle due to the fears that they had. This inspired Nancy to pursue Dental Hygiene not only to help her children but to help all children have a happy experience while at the Dentist office.
Nancy currently resides in Branford and comes from a strong Italian family. Her mothers Italian cooking is some of the best on the shoreline!!!
When Nancy is not working she cherishes the time with her boys and enjoys traveling with the love of her life John.
